Thiruvananthapuram division was shaped on second October 1979, cutting out the Shornur-Cochin Harbor Terminus segment from the recent Olavakkot division and Ernakulam – Trivandrum Kanyakumari area of Madurai division. The multiplying of track between Kayankulam-Quilon Junction was finished in 1996 and between Quilon-Trivandrum amid the year 2000. Amid that year the Railway Electrification works between Shornur Ernakulam was authorized. The Electrification between Ernakulam to Trivandrum by means of Kottayam and Alleppey was finished in 2006. Thiruvananthapuram was a branch line station however the Maharani assembled it at standard with the partners in the significant urban communities of India.
